Retirement Villages

Retirement Villages

A retirement village allows independent retirees to enjoy their golden years with the lifestyle they want. Retirement villages offer a secure and safe environment and a supportive peer group community.

Unlike aged care homes, retirement villages are designed for seniors who do not require aged care services. However, many villages include health and emergency services such as an emergency call system installed in units, visiting health services or an on-site nurse. Services range between retirement villages so make sure to ask the village manager what services and facilities they offer in their village.

To find a retirement village, you can use our online directory of retirement villages by selecting a geographical location (i.e. your desired state and then suburb). The directory will then generate a list of retirement villages in that area.

You can then further refine your search by filtering the results by village feature, such as whether the village has a pool or allows pets.

Lifestyle is an important part of any retirement village, so our online directory allows you to search for retirement villages based on lifestyle as well as location. You can search for villages that are by the beach, on the river, in the city, country or offer resort-style accommodation and services.

Please find below a breakdown of possible retirement villages in each state and territory in Australia.

By on Friday, February 14, 2014

Macquarie University lecturer in applied finance Dr Timothy Kyng hopes to interview 60 new residents of retirement villages and 20 retirement village operators to compile the research which he expects to publish at the end of the year.
