on the Tuesday, April 18, 2017

Ipswich Mayor Paul Pascale was a surprise guest when residents of Milford Grange Retirement Community celebrated a mass 90+ birthday party last week.

Retirement Village Manager, Kim Hook said she arranged the party as a celebration for her village residents aged between 90 and 98.

The nine nonagenarians attended the celebrations and received a certificate from Mr Pascale plus a party to remember.

Ms Hook said more than 60 residents; family and friends joined the 90+ party celebrations over morning tea.

“Ninety is quite a milestone, and the party was a chance for every resident in the village to celebrate those who have reached it,” Ms Hook said.

“The Mayor came straight from filling sandbags and presented certificates, told jokes and took photos with the guests of honour.

“It was absolutely beautiful – everyone brought a plate of food, I did a lot of cooking and my daughter made the cake.”

Ralph Edwards, 98, cut the cake as the eldest of the group and one of the village’s first residents.

Milford Grange is an active and social village and the community hopes to make the celebration an annual event.
