The residents of Bolton Clarke Westhaven Retirement Community in Toowoomba have been treated to an afternoon of Country and Western Music in their community hall.
The residents enjoyed listening to the band play all their favourite tunes from the 50’s and 60’s including plenty of Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and George Jones.
Westhaven Retirement Village Manager Vanessa Nugent says her residents really love music concerts and she tries to organise new and interesting events for them regularly.
“Many of the residents here at Westhaven grew up on the land so they love this country music,” she said.
“They can reminisce about the country music concerts they went to when they were younger. It’s a wonderful opportunity to foster friendships in the village and a nice way for my residents to have a “day out” without having to leave the village.
“In Retirement Living it’s important to meet the needs of your resident’s individual tastes and likes.”
Vanessa Nugent was nominated for 2016 Retirement Village Manager of the Year by her residents and made finalist in the top three.
It is her dedication to her residents that shines through and makes Westhaven a wonderful place to live.
