CEO Appointed to Steer Anglicare's New Course

The Anglican Community Services Board has appointed Grant Millard to the role of CEO of the new organisation resulting from this month’s merger of Anglicare Sydney and Anglican Retirement Villages (ARV). 

'Anglican Community Services' will trade as ‘Anglicare Sydney', retaining a name with strong brand recognition and community support. Preparation to merge the two organisations began 8 months ago with the official merger taking effect on 1 July 2016. Grant Millard was previously a partner in an international accounting firm before spending 13 years in senior management roles with Coca-Cola in Sydney, Athens and London. On his return to Australia, Mr Millard served as the General Manager of Moore Theological College before becoming CEO of Anglicare Sydney in 2011.

“After a rigorous, externally facilitated process the Board selected Grant Millard as the new CEO of the merged organisation,” says Greg Hammond OAM, Chairman of the Board.

“We wanted to ensure the organisation’s continuity and stability, and minimise the uncertainty of any transition and integration risks. Grant is uniquely placed to lead Anglicare in the coming years. He will assume his role of CEO on 1 September. Current CEO Rob Freeman will leave Anglicare on 31 August but will be a consultant to Grant for six months to assist with the organisation’s integration,” says Mr Hammond.

As CEO, Grant Millard will be responsible for 3,800 staff (F/T and P/T) and 2,900 volunteers across Retirement Living and Residential Aged Care; Home Care; and Community Services.

The new Anglicare now operates 22 Retirement Living Villages and 22 Residential Aged Care Homes. ‘Anglicare At Home’ begins by offering Home Care services to 1,500 people and Commonwealth Home Support Programs to over 8,000 people. The Community Services programs include migrant and refugee services; emergency relief; counselling; foster care and adoptions; disability support services for young people; and chaplaincy services.

The merged organisation has extended its geographic presence and now becomes one of the largest Aged Care providers in Greater Sydney and the Illawarra Region. With greater economies of scale Anglicare will increase its capabilities; expand its work; and invest more in technology and research to improve the lives of clients and residents.
