What Makes a Grand Friend?

on the Wednesday, August 26, 2015

NSW Grandparents Day isn’t just about recognising the love and support grandparents provide their families. It is also about recognising the contributions that older Australians all across the state are making to communities and the support they are providing future generations.

That is why the Grand Friend of the Year category of the NSW Grandparent of the Year Awards is so important. This category aims to recognise older members of the community who may not necessarily have grandchildren themselves, but nevertheless have dedicated themselves through their work to improving the lives of the children in their community.

To be eligible for a Grand Friend of the Year Award an individual must be over fifty years old and be making a positive contribution to the lives of children through their professional work. This might be in their role as a doctor or nurse, a dedicated teacher at the local school, a coach at the local sporting club or even a child entertainer.

If you know someone who deserves a Grand Friend of the Year Award make sure you nominate them today and see that they are recognised for their incredible work.

Click here to submit your nomination. Nominations close on September 20.
