Once again, Sydney has been voted as Australia’s No.1 holiday destination by travel website TripAdvisor, with Melbourne coming in second and Brisbane in third.

This year’s list caused some controversy, with the Gold Coast omitted from the list completely.

Queensland’s Tourism Industry Council CEO Daniel Gschwing said that the Gold Coast deserved to be on the list.

‘Of course it should be on there. In terms of the sheer volume of visitors who go there, that should speak volumes for its popularity.”

Canberra, Darwin and Perth were also left off the list.
