Retirement Living

I want to move into a smaller home with less to look after.

Enjoy more time to do the things you love, without having to look after a big home and garden, in our retirement living units. We also take care of water bills, council rates and building insurance.

We take care of unit repairs and upkeep. Residents also have access to 24-hour emergency maintenance.

Enjoy a friendly community atmosphere while keeping your privacy and independence.

Common areas are looked after by our friendly gardeners, who make sure gardens and pathways are neat and tidy. Keen gardeners are welcome to keep flexing their green thumbs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Usually when you buy into a Helping Hand retirement living property, Helping Hand retains ownership of the home and the land. You will be purchasing a license to live in the unit for as long as you wish. There are also some properties which are offered as rental units. To understand your options fully, please talk to our Housing Coordinator, and read more about Retirement Living costs here.

Retirement living is designed for people over 55 who are still active enough to live independently, providing a close community of like-minded people. An aged care home provides an increased level of support for people who are no longer able to live independently, with round the clock care available.

Friends and family are welcome to visit and stay with you in your retirement unit. Part of living in a retirement village is the sense of community and knowing who your neighbours are. This means that if you are planning on having a visitor for an extended stay, you will need to talk to the Housing Coordinator and let them know who is staying, and for how long.

The My Aged Care website is the starting point for everyone who is looking for information on government funded services.

We understand that having a conversation with a loved one about getting older can be challenging and emotional – for everyone. We’ve developed a series of short films, where you can follow one family’s experiences, from different points of view, as they find themselves making decisions about aged care.
