Residents roar back to the 20s and all that jazz

on the Wednesday, June 29, 2016

The residents of RSL Care Inverpine Retirement Village at Murrumba Downs have been transported back to the roaring 1920’s with a black and gold, Great Gatsby themed prohibition party.

The men wore their best suits dressing as 1920’s gangsters complete with contrasting hats and ties while the ladies wore sparkling dresses, pearls and feathered headpieces.

The residents were treated to a special luncheon in their beautifully decorated black and gold themed community hall, complete with feather centrepieces.

They danced the afternoon away to the Peninsula Live Jazz Band, who played all their favourite songs. They also enjoyed games of pool and cards.

Retirement Village Manager, Lynda Williams loves working with the Inverpine Resident’s Social Group to organise a range of events throughout the year catering to all tastes, abilities and preferences.

“The residents here love to party, it just goes to show that you’re never too old to have fun. Some of the people at the party are in their nineties and still going strong,” she said.

“It is so much fun to see them all dressed up, chatting, laughing and taking selfies together like teenagers. It proves that age is just a state of mind.”

“The village has an active and social community who love to party and absolutely love a reason to dress up.”
