Bush Basher Retirees Hit the Road

on the Thursday, June 23, 2016

Proving that age should never get in the way of a good time, a merry crew from Churches of Christ Care Bribie Island and Woorim Retirement Villages hit the road recently for a visit to Esk, for a rousing performance by a talented group of locals.

The Esk Bush Bashers formed in 1989, and since then an ever-changing group of energetic retirees have been putting on shows with much enthusiasm and larrikinism, keeping visitors from near and far entertained.

The entire performance was vibrant with fabulous renditions of old hits being sung and poems recited with much aplomb. Everyone was encouraged to partake, as the performers hauled the sometimes not so eager members of the audience up to play instruments and form a choir.

After a delicious two-course lunch was enjoyed, song books were handed out and all in attendance joined in and sang along to some old favourites.

The energy of the Esk Bush Bashers is infectious, and by the end of the show the entire audience was up on their feet doing the chicken dance and cavorting joyfully around the hall in a conga line.

At the end of the day, the residents piled back onto the bus for the trip home, with some tasty treats helping to replace the energy exerted throughout the show.
